Iyengar bakery style Honey cake

Ingredients
All purpose flour-1cup
Sugar-1cup
Butter-100gms
Baking powder-1/2tsp
Eggs-2
Milk-3tbsp
Vanilla essence-1/2tsp
salt a pinch
Honey syrup
Honey-1/2 cup
Water-1/2 cup
Sugar-1tbsp
Topping
Jam-3tbsp
Sugar-1/2tbsp
Dessicated coconut-1/2 cup

Method
Preheat oven to 160 c.
Seive flour baking powder and salt and keep aside.
Beat butter and sugar well.Add in one egg at a atime and beat till fluffy and add vanilla essence and beat well.Add seived mixture of flour baking powder and salt in three batches and fold in without lumps.
Pour the batter to a greases cake pan and bake for 45-50 minutes.It  took 55minutes for me as Im using cooking range oven.
Once cake is done (check by inserting a toothpick in the centre which must come clean),cool cake on rack.
Meanwhile prepare honey syrup by boiling honey water and sugar till a boil comes and simmers.
Likewise prepare topping by heating jam and sugar till bubbles form.
Once cake is cooled pour the honey syrup all over and keep aside for ten minutes for absorption.Then apply the jam melted on top and sprinkle dessicated coconut .
