Galette des Rois
Recipe
Ingredients
1 puff pastry sheet(i used homemade)
Frangipane filling
Butter-1/2 cup
Sugar-1/2 cup
Powdered blanched almonds-1/2 cup
Flour-2tbsp
Egg-1
Vanilla essence-1tsp
Topping
Sugar-2tbsp
Honey-1tbsp
Water-3tbsp
Egg wash-1egg yolk
Method
First we will make the frangipane filling.Cream butter and sugar add in egg and beat well.Add essence powdered almonds and flour and fold in well.Refrigerate.
Now take the puff pastry sheet and roll it and cut two rounds using a plate.Keep one rounded sheet on a lined baking tray and brush its ends with water and drop the refrigerated frangipane filling onto the round pastry sheet.Now place the other round pastry sheet on top and seal the ends well as shown in picture below.Now make small cuts throughout its end and brush egg yolk on top and refrigerate for two hours.
After two hours preheat oven to 200c.
Take out the refrigerated filled pastry dough and brush egg yolk on top again and make designs on top with a knife and put small holes too.
Now bake for 35 minutes ie till it puffs up and turns golden brown on top.
Meanwhile heat sugar honey and water till it dissolves and simmers.
Your delicious Galette des rois is ready..brush the sugar honey syrup on top generously as its hot.
