Ingredients
Vanilla flavour
All purpose flour-1/2 cup
Butter-50gms
Sugar-4tbsps
Baking powder-1/2tsp
Baking soda-a pinch
Salt a pinch
Vanilla essence-1/2tsp
Chocolate flavour
All purpose flour-1/2cup
Butter-50gms
Sugar-4tbsps
Baking powder-1/2tsp
Baking soda-a pinch
Cocoa powder-1tbsp
Salt a pinch
Milk-1tbsp
Vanilla essence-1/2tsp
Method
Vanilla flavour
Cream butter and sugar.To this add vanilla mix well.Seive flour baking powder baking soda and salt and add in and knead a firm dough.Form a rectangular shaped log and cover tightly in cling wrap and pop in freezer.
Chocolate flavour
Cream butter and sugar.To this add vanilla mix well.Seive flour cocoa powder baking powder baking soda and salt and add in and knead a firm dough add milk too.Form a rectangular shaped log and cover tightly in cling wrap and pop in freezer.
After 30 minutes take both the log shaped dough.Cut each log into three halves.Now alternating vanilla and chocolate halves keep one above the other.Now you get two logs multi layered.
Now cut this again into three halves.Again alternate and place them one above the other as in picture.
Now press and cover each multi layered log in cling and freeze for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes preheat oven to 180c.
Take each log and cut out thin discs of dough.
Place them on greased lined baking tray.
Bake for 15 minutes .
Your delicious beautiful checkerboard cookies are ready.
Cool completely on rack and store in airtight containers.
