Tomato Rasam
Ingredients
Tomato-3 sliced
Shallots-6 crushed
Garlic-4 crushed
Ginger-1 tsp crushed
Green chilly-3 crushed
Mustard-1/2tsp
Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
Pepper&cumin crushed-each 2 tsp
Asafoetida-1/2tsp
Tamarind lemon sized soaked in 1 cup of water
Coriander leaves
Water and salt as required
Method
Heat oil in pan splutter mustard.Add crushed shallots,garlic,green chillies and ginger and saute well.Add turmeric,crushed pepper and cumin seeds saute.Add asafoetida and tomato and cook till tomato is mushy and raw smell goes off.
Add tamarind water and required amount of water and salt .Let it reach to a boiling roar and boil for 7 to 8 mins and switch off.
Add chopped coriander leaves and switch off flame.
