Basbousa



Recipe
Semolina-1 cup
Yoghurt-1/4 cup
Butter-1/4 cup
Coconut-1/4cup
Sugar-1/2cup
Vanilla essence-1tsp
salt a pinch
Baking powder-1/2tsp
Sugar syrup
Sugar-1/4 cup
Water-1/4cup
Lemon juice-1tsp
Rose essence-1tsp
Method
Mix semolina,yoghurt,butter,coconut,sugar,vanilla essence,salt and baking powder and mix well...in a greased pan spread the batter well and mark the cuts and garnish with blanched almonds (microwave almonds in water on high for 30sec and skin comes out when you press)..and refrigerate for 30mins..in preheated oven of 180c bake for 35mins or till the top turns golden brown.Meanwhile prepare sugar syrup by boiling sugar and water till it melts well..switch off flame adding lime juice and rose essence.let it cool..
Once the semolina cake is done pour the syrup on top..saving a little syrup to use later incase you like to pour the syrup while serving too..yummy basbousa is ready😊
